Counselling for Children & Young People in Newquay, Cornwall
Self-acceptance is an essential aspect of personal growth, particularly for children and young people navigating the complexities of adolescence. This kind of talking therapy fosters self-acceptance and can significantly enhance confidence levels.
Through play, guided conversations and supportive interactions young individuals can explore their feelings, understand their strengths and address the challenges they face.
By learning to embrace their unique identities they develop a stronger sense of self-worth which not only boosts their confidence but also equips them with the resilience needed to tackle life's obstacles.
Engaging in talking therapy allows them to voice their thoughts and emotions thereby cultivating an environment where self-acceptance flourishes paving the way for profound personal development.
I have been working as a counsellor with children and young people in Cornish secondary schools for a number of years.
The focus is generally to empower the young person, helping them to find their voice and to grow in confidence.
For younger children the work would be play based – we might build things or use arts and crafts.
For older children we may use sensory toys and music to foster a more relaxed atmosphere.
We might explore unhelpful behaviour patterns and ways to manage emotional dysregulation.
I will be client/child-led and will work with whatever the young person wants to either bring to, or get out of the session.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on +44 7983272657 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
All enquiries are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework.
